Street Maths Day

Street Maths Day is held in safe, open-air spaces where students solve mathematical tasks directly on the ground using chalk and simple tools.


The event moves mathematics outside the classroom, making learning practical, interactive, and engaging.

Street Maths at your Schools

Schools select the age groups that will participate.
 Students work through clear, age-appropriate mathematical challenges prepared and printed on A3 sheets.

Activities focus on applying concepts, solving problems, and using movement and spatial awareness.

Organisation & Supervision

The event is organised by RSI in close coordination with the participating school. Designated areas are prepared in advance to ensure clear, safe spaces for each class and student. Students wear the official Street Maths T-shirt with jeans and white trainers, while teachers and supervisors provide guidance throughout the activities. Media coverage is planned and coordinated in collaboration with the RSI media team.

How to Join

Invitation to Participate

RSI invites schools to take part in Street Maths by introducing practical, outdoor mathematical activities within their learning environments. Participation enables students to engage with mathematics in a motivating and interactive way while strengthening essential skills.

Implementation Framework

The initiative follows a clear framework to ensure effective and consistent delivery across all participating schools.

Planning and Preparation

Step 1 Preparing layouts, class allocations, maps, and required materials.
Step 2 Forming a school committee to oversee coordination.
Step 3 Selecting a safe open-air space, such as a courtyard, playground, or designated parking area.

Activity Design

Step 1Preparing age-appropriate mathematical tasks.
Step 2Printing activities clearly on A3 sheets.
Step 3Training students in advance and conducting a trial with one class.
